AGF bluffs Senate, shuns summon over Saraki, Ekweremadu’s case
The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami, Thursday shunned the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters.
The Senate had at plenary on Tuesday,
after a closed session that lasted for two hours summoned Malami over
the planned trial of Senate President Bukola Saraki, and his deputy, Ike
Ekweremadu, for allegation of forging the Senate Standing Order 2015.
The
senate decision was reached after the senator representing Kogi West
Senatorial District, Dino Melaye moved a motion relying on order 14 and
52, to demand the approval of his colleagues for his two prayers
including the invitation of the AGF and the validity of the rule book.
There
is no reason at present why the AGF refused to honour the Senate summon
or what will be the next line of action of the senators.
