Edo PDP governorship candidate, Ize-Iyamu picks deputy
The Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party,
PDP, in Edo State, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has picked a deputy
governorship candidate ahead of the September 10 governorship election in the state.
According to reports, Ize-Iyamu picked a former local
government chairman of Esan North-East Local Government, Mr John Yakubu
as his running mate.
The decision to pick Yakubu was reportedly taken in Benin,
at a meeting held at the residence of a former chairman of the Board of
Trustees of the PDP, Chief Tony Anenih.
The meeting had in attendance notable politicians from the
Edo Central district, who had been touted as likely running mates such
as Hon Friday Itulah, Hon Akhere Ugbesia, Hon John Yakubu, Hon Felix Akhabue, Barrister (Mrs) Philomena Ihenyen, and Felix Imosili.
Also present at the meeting were Ize-Iyamu, Edo State
chairman of the PDP, Dan Orbih and leaders of the party across the three
senatorial zones of the state were also at the meeting.
Yakubu’s choice was reportedly a consensus agreement, as majority of the leaders of the party endorsed his candidacy.
