ASAN IBIBIO RECEPTION: MY PERSPECTIVE

What happened yesterday at ASAN IBIBIO was a clear indication that Governor Udom Emmanuel, with all due
respect has completely lost focus as the governor of Akwa Ibom State.

It was not just an act of insensitivity, but
was totally uncalled for. In as much as I'm not against anyone's ambition, but truth be told, that was indeed a show of shame.

I was uncontrollably worried; seeing such a mammoth crowd of able bodied young men and women, in an Oil rich state gathered on a Monday morning for such a frivolous event.

An activity that neither puts food on
their tables nor add any reasonable value to their lives. It shows obviously, and quite sadly the worrisome level of joblessness, poverty and hopelessness among the people.

In fairness, Governor Udom is highly educated and reasonably exposed, therefore, nothing but a complete
departure from this mundane politics of endorsement was my expectation from a man with such an admirable background.

I am very sure the governor cannot, in all honesty cite a precedence of such an event in any advanced democracy in the world, which by the grace God he is exposed to, it's rather unfortunate.

This level of desperation should be condemned in its entirety by men and women of good conscience, because it is absolutely antithetical and counterproductive to good governance, especially when several sectors in the state are seriously begging for attention. The governor’s second term ambition cannot take precedence over the well being of the good people of Akwa Ibom State. No amount of arranged endorsement can validate the two years abysmal outing of Governor Udom Emmanuel.

I don't know who the governor’s advisers are, but whoever that sold such fraudulent idea to him; that his victory at the 2019 gubernatorial election is anchored on stage-managed endorsements, is or are his greatest enemies.

The people have learned their bitter lessons, they are not only wiser now, but are more prepared.

A word is enough for the sound mind.
