The attention of the Compliance and Monitoring Unit of the Ministry of Transport and Petroleum Resources have been drawn to the ugly incidence of 7/7/2017 which resulted in the loss of live of a
commuter along Aka - Nung Udoe Road.

While regretting the ugly incidence, we wish to use this medium to inform the general public that the
stories making rounds on social and other media platform is not true as the said masterminds of the
incidence are neither members of the Compliance and Monitoring Unit nor representatives of the Ministry.

It is on record that Rt. Hon. Orman Esin, Commissioner for Transport and Petroleum Resources upon resumption of office dissolved all
Task Force operations in the Metropolis and constituted the Compliance and Monitoring Unit to
forestall incessant killings, harassments and other acts capable of causing breach of peace in the
State.

It is also worth stating here that every Compliance and Monitoring officer while on official duty is
properly dressed in their uniforms and are supervised by members of the Police Force, Civil Defense and Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO) to
ensure best practice.

We are quite aware that some members of the defunct task force are still carrying out illegal operations and we believe that this gruesome act was caused by them.

While sympathizing with the family of the deceased, we wish to state categorically that we shall work in conjunction with the Police and other security operatives to unravel the masterminds of this gruesome event and prosecute them accordingly to serve as deterrent to other impostors in the metropolis.
We wish to also use this medium and appeal to the general public to always use the government
approved motor parks to forestall this gory incidence.

Considering the forgoing, the Unit condemns this act and hereby calls on the Police to carry out thorough investigation into the matter, arrest and prosecute the perpetrators in other to guarantee the safety of lives and properties of the citizens.
