LG Polls: Why I'm Running for Mbo Chairmanship Position-Solomon Effiong

A Chairmanship aspirant in Mbo Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, Hon. Solomon Effiong (a.k.a Inyang Solo) said the welfare of the people, provision of basic amenities and security will remain his top priority, if elected into office as Chairman of Mbo in the November 11, 2017 Local Government elections in the State.

Effiong,who is vying for the position on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), while addressing Comrade Victor Inwang led Executive of the apex youth body in Uda community, Uda Community Youth Development Organisation (UCYDO) and the youths of Mbo in an informal meeting on Saturday at Oron Town, said leaders, especially at the grassroots, must always be sensitive to the needs of the people, and strive to meet them.

The Effiat born politician assured that his administration would make efforts to boost the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) in the area and promised to operate an open door policy to move the area forward.

While soliciting for the support of Uda youths and Mbo, he said Effiat community would be given special priority because of the need to address the challenges facing the area in terms of basic amenities.

"I have so many good things for Mbo in my mind.My community (Effiat) need standard water. We need schools.There is no secondary school in my community;
not even one, not even a standard primary school.Please let somebody from Effiat community also be educated.

" Again, there is no hospital in Effiat, despite the fact that we are oil producing community.You know we have many oil companies but the peoples in charge look down on the community, but I pray if God make me the Chairman of Mbo, I will address some of these issues.

I pray God to also use me to bless Mbo people. I have a lot of good things in stock for my people", Hon.Effiong stated.

Speaking further, the politician promised that, if elected, he would complete the stadium he started when he was the Caretaker Chairman of the area.

"What I am bringing now is my experience. There are some things I did not have then which I have now.

"I have a lot of projects like the stadium I initiated when I was the Transition Chairman and God has laid in my
heart to make sure that I complete that stadium so that Mbo people can also feel a sense of belonging in sports.

" I want to be chairman of Mbo so that I can give the youth of Mbo the morale to go to school by giving them bursaries and others financial assistance. I have friends in the Law School that have been complaining that they have not been carried along with financial assistance
anymore like when I was there as the Chairman of Mbo", the chairmanship hopeful assured.

In his speech, the President-General of Uda Community Youth Development Organisation (UCYDO), Comrade
Victor Inwang said Uda youths would support an aspirant who has the interest of the people at heart beyond party
lines.

The meeting featured presentation of identity cards to village youth presidents in Uda community.
