Udom thanks Nkanga for delivering an arranged endorsement
By Ab Udofia
Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has thanked Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga, a former Military
Governor for delivering on the assignment he gave him as the chairman of the central planning committee to get
some Ibibio groups to endorse him for second term.
A very excited Udom asked the crowd of mainly PDP members hired for the arrangee endorsement "has Nkanga delivered?" and they replied yes.
It can be recalled that Udom who has been desperately shopping for all sorts of endorsement for a second term against his agreement with former Governor Godswill Akpabio and Oro leaders to spend only one term, recently commissioned Nkanga and his super commissioner, Ephraim Inyang to organize some Ibibio groups to endorse him for a fee.
The event that held today at Asan Ibibio was boycotted by many eminent Ibibio leaders including the leader and
spokesman of Ibibio people, former Governor Victor Attah.
Attah's coronation as Ibibio leader was boycotted by Udom, then Akpabio's SSG and other Akpabio loyalists.
The event was also poorly attended by other governors with only 3 out of 35 other governors present. To excite
the rented crowd, Udom told them that 2 other governors were on their way but till the event finished, they didn't show up.
One of the 3 governors present, Owelle Rochas Okorocha of Imo State who is the chairman of APC Governors Forum shocked Udom when he said he was surprised to find some PDP members in Asan Ibibio when he knew that PDP was finished in Akwa Ibom State.
Nkanga, who used to be very popular in the state because of his achievements as governor lost his popularity with the people for doing all sorts of demeaning jobs for Akpabio.
Nkanga is doing the same thing for Udom. Nkanga is currently on EFCC bail for receiving N450 million on behalf of Akpabio from ex-Petroleum Minister
Diezani Madueke to bribe INEC officials for the 2015 eletions in the state.
Reliable sources say he has been helped by Akpabio and Udom to pay back the money but EFCC announced after
his release that they will still charge him to court.
Ephraim Inyang is the de facto Deputy Governor and Udom's chief enforcer who is very unpopular even in Udom's cabinet because of his arrogance and brash way
of treating PDP members including fellow commissioners.
Ephraim Inyang is reported to have once smashed the phone of ex-commissioner Emmanuel Enoidem for answering call in Udom's presence.
