Why do the young people of this generation take so much pride in writing in eccentric abbreviations? What is really happening?
Why can't people just write correctly, express themselves properly and use words in full? Social media is eroding good communication and
undermining intellection.

Many people use these voodoo "words" and expressions in both formal and informal communications.

It is unacceptable and should be discouraged. The abusive use of English language is an epidemic that has afflicted young men and women.

People will come to your inbox and throw short and annoyingly abbreviated words at you and still
expect you to accord them serious attention? Why should you be accorded serious attention when you are irritatingly expressing yourself in an unserious manner?
Voodoo abbreviations should be discouraged.

It is understandable when you use them with someone that you are very familiar with.

But this should be the relative exception and not the norm.
