AKSG Gives Hope on Abandoned Etebi-Enwang Road

The Akwa Ibom State Government says its has concluded plans to start work on the abandoned Etebi-Enwang road in Mbo Local Government Area.

The Commissioner for Works, Mr. Ephraim Inyang gave the assurance when members of the Afi-Uda Village Council in Mbo LGA paid a courtesy call on the Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo, recently.

Mr Inyang, whose ministry would supervise the road project, said it was the decision of Governor Udom Emmanuel to site at least one key infrastructure such as road in areas that hitherto had none.
He thanked the people of Oro Nation for their support and cooperation with Governor Udom Emmanuel led-administration.

It would be recalled that the road which was part of the flagship projects flagged off by the immediate past Governor of the State, Chief Godswill Akpabio, immediately after being sworn into office in 2007 has been left unattended to for years now.

The media hype accorded the project is nothing to write home about as the condition of the road is far cry from what the State Government would have the public believe, a resident of the area, Asukwo Odiong lamented.

Recall, this was the only big project awarded by the Akpabio's adminstration in the five local government areas of Oro Nation.

The abandonment of the road and the bridge which is the only doorway to Etebi in Esit Eket local government area and Villages such as Afi-Uda in Uda community, Mbo local government area, has over the years rendered the road impassable.
