Ondo inaugurates 27.5km road in Irele
Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun
Mimiko, has inaugurated a 27.5-kilometre road in the Irele Local
Government Area, saying that the project was a fulfillment of his
campaign promise.
Speaking during the inauguration of the
road on Thursday, Mimiko said that his administration had constructed
more roads than any other administration in the history of the state.
The governor said that before the
construction of the Ajagba-Iyansan Road, only bicycles, motorcycles and
trucks were able to ply the rough terrain, which he described as a
footpath accessible only during the dry season.
Mimiko said the people of the area would be able to ply the road in the incoming raining season.
He said, “Before the road was built,
people could only access Iyansan, Akotogbo, Ijuoshun and other
communities of the area by water, but people could access the area
through the newly constructed road now.”
The governor said that the road signified a major milestone in the achievements of his administration.
He listed other road projects
constructed by his administration in the Ondo-South senatorial district
to include the 7.5-kilometre Okitipupa-Obonde Road and the
rehabilitation of the 21-kilometre Omotoso-Ilu Titun Road as well as the
12.7-kilometre Okitipupa-Erinje-Obonde Road, among others.
Calling on the citizenry to hold
governments at all levels accountable, Mimiko appealed to the masses to
protect government infrastructures at all times.
