Teenager reportedly bedridden for years due to grief

News reports have revealed that a young woman has reportedly been bedridden for years over mysterious illness discovered to be grief.
The victim, Angie McEvoy, 26, from
Dublin, Ireland, had been reportedly been confined to a bed for over a
decade caused by a mysterious illness which had begun with vomiting and
excruciating pain at the age of 11.
Angie's
condition had baffled doctors as she threw up at least three days a
week, lost weight drastically causing her to miss school as they
struggled to find out the source of her illness
A
psychologist Angie had later been referred to in her early 20s,
following years of hospital tests and suicidal thoughts, that the problem
had been discovered.
The reports reveal that
Angie had been suffering from severe grief over the death of her beloved
aunt, who had been like a 'mother' to her and had passed away a few
months before her sickness had begun.
Angie's
emotions which she had 'bottled up' at the time, had finally manifested
itself in a physical way, sadly, through over 10 years of sickness and
pain.
During an exclusive interview with Mirror Online, Agie revealed saying:
"My
auntie died from breast cancer when I was 11. She was like a second
mother to me. She was in the house every day and she was such a strong
person. If anyone had a problem, she’d be there.
"The
psychologist told me I'd never grieved properly for her. I didn't cry
because I didn't want to upset anyone else and I bottled everything
up.Instead, I ended up grieving through being sick. I would pray at
night that I would die because I didn't want to spend another day
vomiting.
"The psychologist told me that
when teenagers and kids don't know how to deal with grief, it can
manifest itself in a physical way."Following the emergence of the source of her illness, Angie now has
'worked through' her grief and is working as a full-time volunteer with a
UK foundation for suicide prevention and mental health awareness.
