Isiaka Adeleke
The first civilian governor of Osun State, Senator Isiaka Adetunji
Adeleke, has urged Nigerians to support the President Muhammadu Buhari
administration.
He said for the nation to recover from its economic woes, the
citizens must support and be committed to the ideals and values the
Buhari administration is setting out to establish for the growth of the
nation.
Speaking at the 2016 empowerment programme for the people of Osun
West, who he represents at the upper chamber of the National Assembly,
Senator Adeleke blamed the past administration for the present economic
crisis.
The lawmaker, who gave out 120 motorcycles, 50 grinding machines, 700
sewing machines, 45 refrigerators and two 18-seater buses to 1,000
beneficiaries, advised rich, good-spirited Nigerians to assist the less
privileged by giving them means of livelihood.
He enjoined the beneficiaries to utilise the items.
Adeleke said the harsh economic climate called for intervention in
empowering the people with resources to help them in small scale
businesses.
He advocated vocational training for youths in trades and vocations,
as part of efforts to engage them in meaningful ventures and reduce
unemployment.
The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gboyega Famodun, said there was no alternative to his party.
According to him, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other opposition parties in the state are dead.
The APC chairman said: “This empowerment programme is a very good
thing. The situation in the country is tough, but this was caused by the
previous administration.”
