Akwa Ibom APC State Congress: Udoedehe Suffers Setback

The High Court, sitting in Abak, Akwa Ibom State has struck out the exparte motion sought by the Akpan Udoedehe APC pressure group.

The Exparte order had sought the following orders:
1. Interim Injunction restraining the Ahmadu Attai led Working Committee of the APC in the State from planning, organizing or holding any Congress howsoever of the APC within the State for the purpose of electing new officers to run the affairs of the party in the State
pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice.
2. Such further or other orders as this Honourable Court may deem fit to make in the circumstances.

The Plaintiffs were represented by Sam Ikpo, Esq. while the Defendants were represented by Chief Victor Iyanam.

The Court, presided over by Hon. Justice
Ezekiel Enang adjourned the case to the 8th August, 2017 when it became obvious that the defendants were still well within time to take steps in their case.

It will be recalled that the case was filed on the 27th August, 2017 and fixed only after 3 days before the Judge for the purpose of obtaining the injunction.

Legal analysts are wondering why the suit was filed in Abak, instead of Uyo where all the Defendants live or have
offices, Some say it reminds them of forum shopping, a practice deprecated by the superior Courts.
