BEN EDENSETING: THE UDUNG UKO RENAISSANCE MAN (PART FIVE)

By Joshua Osung

…analysis of blueprints (continued)
I begin today with these fascinating quotes. They are invaluable to me because of the central messages they convey.

“...pity is the feeling of well-intentioned people who are unable to act...It is those who are able to carry out their
good intentions who deserve praise.”

― Pramoedya Ananta Toer, Bumi Manusia
An intention can come in two polar ways – good or bad. A good intention is easily sighted when spotted with readiness characterized by goal design, blueprints and expected results.

A man of good intention is ever prepared
and ready to employ every tool of the arsenal at his disposal to ensure success – such traits as explained are not always unconnected with good leaders.

Good leaders are ever ready, ever accommodating, ever inspiring and
always want the best for everyone. Yes indeed, Engr. Ben Edenseting wants the best for everyone; this is the reason he has this as one of his blueprints:
• TRAINING OF 5O YOUTHS (5 PER WARD) IN DRILLING AND MARINE TECHNOLOGY ACROSS THE TEN WARDS
We all know that Udung Uko LGA is blessed with natural resources in oil and gas.

Ben Edenseting appreciatively believes so much in the imminent wealth, untapped resources and greatness of Udung Uko. As a chemical Engr., through his
experimental knowledge, he knows that there are so much natural wealth in Udung Uko that are left unexplored; he knows also of the incentives of drilling and marine technology.

Ben Edenseting believes that if these
sets of individuals are trained, then Udung Uko LGA need not look outside for services when development sets in and
employment/work opportunities in areas such as gas drilling/exploration and oil sector etc surface.

If I am asked, I would posit that such idea would benefit us a great deal as it is one way of making the wealth of Udung revolve around Udung Uko.

When these young people are trained in the aforementioned areas and eventually become self dependent, they can in turn train other willing youths from their various wards and the trend goes on and on… by this, the poverty gap is slowly bridged and development would have been unconsciously planted and watered.

William Shakespeare, in his popular novel ‘The Merchant of Venice’ had this to say “If to do were as easy as to know what were good to do, chapels had been churches and poor men’s cottages princes’ palaces...” Ben Edenseting is one man who knows what to do and is ready to do.

Opportunity is one channel of metamorphosing intention (especially the good ones) into reality - the very vehicle
of conveying ideas from its abstract form to its concrete form.

This should indeed become our collective dreams where all hands are put together to make it a reality.

I tell you the truth: with Engr. Ben Edenseting, our Local Government Area is sure to be great and just as he
needs our partnership and support, we need his service too – I mean BADLY!
Let’s stand up for what is right.

God Bless Udung Uko!
