Lionel Messi Extends Contract With Barcelona

BARCELONA, announces that the Argentina forward Lionel Messi has agreed to a three-year contract extension that will keep him at Barcelona through 2021.

His current contract is set to expire at the end of the 2017-18 season.
The five-time ballon d’Or winner and Argentine star, Lionel Messi has agreed to a four-year £500,000 per week contract extension which will
keep him at Barcelona until the summer of 2021.

His titles with the club include four Champions League trophies, eight Spanish league titles and five Copa del Rey titles. According to Spanish newspaper Marca the new contract contains a release clause of €300m.
Barcelona released a statement in English calling Messi “the best player in history, who has played
his full professional career at Barca and has led  the team to an era of extraordinary success, the likes of which has never been seen in world
football.”

The Argentina forward and five-time ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi, turned 30 last month, and has scored a club record of 507 goals in 583 matches and still counting.

Messi who was enrolled into Barcelona’s football academy from Argentina at the of age 13, but
made his debut with Barcelona’s first team four years later in 2004, and moved on to establish himself as one of the best to ever play the game, winning FIFA world player of the year five times.

He will soon start his 14th season with the Catalan club.
