LG Election: A'Ibom Speaker Assures of Resounding Victory for PDP in Etinan Federal Constituency

The Speaker, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Barr. Onofiok Luke, is optimistic of a resounding victory for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the forthcoming local government election slated for November 11 in the state.

Speaking in Etinan on Thursday during the inauguration of the Mobilization, Sensitisation and Advisory Committees for the three local government areas of Etinan, Nsit-Ubium, and Nsit Ibom for the purpose of ensuring victory for the party, Speaker Luke who is the Co-ordinator for Nsit-Ubium, said he was confident of a resounding victory for all the candidates who will emerge as flag bearers of the PDP for both the Chairmanship and Councillorship positions the in the forthcoming local government election in Etinan, Nsit-Ubium and Nsit-Ibom.

He thanked the Chairman of the PDP and members of the state Working Committee of the party for the confidence reposed in him and other Co-ordinators and members of the committee from the federal constituency.
He lauded the large turn out of party faithful as witnessed during the federal constituency tour embarked upon by the party Chairman and his team across the 10 federal constituencies in the state.

Barr Luke thanked the people of the federal constituency for believing in the PDP and the government of Governor Udom Emmanuel, saying "I have seen the pictures of the tour during the visit to other federal constituencies, especially Oron Federal Constituency, and when i saw the large turnout of supporters i asked, where are those who said there is no PDP in Akwa Ibom State?. We pledge our unalloyed support for the success of Governor Udom Emmanuel, and his development plans for the state"
He pointed to some of the laudable infrastructural development in the federal constituency put in place by Governor Udom Emmanuel as a typical example of the benefits the people of the area are enjoying for aligning with the PDP led government.

Inaugurating the Committee, the State Chairman of PDP, Obong Paul Ekpo, described the Mobilization, Sensitisation and Advisory Committees as a strategic structure set up by the party to ensure that the party coasts home to Victory in both the local government election, and other future elections.

He maintained that the party will abide by its constitution in the handling of the election, and advised those seeking elective positions in the forthcoming election to follow the existing zoning arrangement in their respective local government areas. In the same vein, Obong Ekpo cautioned aspirants who are not favoured by zoning system to jettison the idea, saying the party is large enough to accommodate all.

Barr. Onofiok Luke is the Coordinator for Nsit Ubium, while Arch. Ime Ekpo is the Secretary. Senator Effiong Bob is to serve as Adviser. Other members of the Mobilization committee for Nsit Ubium include, former NDDC Chairman, Amb Sam Edem, Managing Director, Nsik Motors Ltd, & CEO, Akwa Ibom Transport Company Ltd, Pastor Nsikak Johnny, Otuekong, Engr. Elder, Bassey Gideon Bassey, Elder Nse Ekefre, Mr. Efanga Inyang, Capt. Iniobong Ekong(rtd), Hon. Ekpedeme Akpan, Chief Inyang Eno and Pastor Umoh Enoh, among others.

The Coordinator for Etinan is a former Council Chairman, Isantim Kenneth Okon.

Present during the event were, members of the State Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, led by the State Chairman, Obong Paul Ekpo, Speaker, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Onofiok Luke, Senator Effiong Bob, National Assembly member for Etinan Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Sam Ikon, House of Assembly member for Etinan State constituency, Hon. Aniefiok Dennis and his colleague from Nsit Ibom State constituency, Hon. Mrs. Mfon Ekong.
Others include,former Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Anietie Etuk, Engr. Billy Etuk, Hon. Imo Udofot, and Barr. Essien Esema among others.
Earlier, the State PDP Chairman visited Itu federal constituency where he inaugurated the Mobilization and Sensitization Committee for the federal constituency.

The tour was later rounded off in Uyo with the inauguration of a similar committee for Uyo Federal constituency at the the Uyo local government council secretariat.
