UDUNG-UKO PDP CANDIDATE, HON. OKON ESIN OKU RECEIVED ROYAL BLESSING

 

 

The palace of the Paramount Ruler of Udung-Uko Local Government Area, yesterday, (20th Nov.,) hosted Hon. Okon Esin Oku's Campaign Organization. Led by her Director General, Rt. Hon. Okokon Ekpe (the immediate past Vice Chairman), the committee used the occasion to performed the formal presentation to the Traditional Fathers, of the PDP Chairmanship Candidate in the person of Hon. Oku Elias whom he described as a product of Zoning and consistent with the wishes and aspirations of the people of Udung-Uko.

In his brief address, the PDP Chairmanship Candidate, Hon. Oku Elias thanked the Chiefs for their patience and thereafter declared that as one well versed with the rules of the game, that he thought it wise to commenced the campaign from the palace in order to receive the royal blessings.

Responding, the Chairman, Ukukim Village Council, Chief Basil Abia, threw his weight behind Zone B and Edikor Chairmanship and maintained that Ukukim has no party other than the PDP. And, whereas he reaffirmed his believe and commitment to the PDP and her Zoning Principles, he however, condemned in very strong terms the action of a certain subject of his whose ambition he said is at variance with the position of Udung-Uko People.

On his part, the Paramount Ruler of the area, HRM (Rt. Hon. Chief) Bassey Etim Edet, expressed his displeasure with Ukukim Community over an attempt by her subject to scuttle an existing Community Agreement (Zoning) and maintained that whoever goes against what Udung-Uko People had sinced agreed on, shall never go unpunished. Furthermore, he declared that Udung-Uko is purely PDP and used the occasion to appealed to the people of Udung-Uko to vote en masse for their party, the PDP in the scheduled 2nd December local government polls and whereas, the highlight of the event was the royal blessing which came in unanimity from the Royal Fathers.

Whereas, the campaign committee had earlier touched down at Ukukim Community Hall in honour of an invitation from the Akpakip Ukukim Youths, the event equally climaxed with a spiritual blessing for Hon. Oku. Speakers upon speakers took to the floor, declared and reaffirmed their commitment to the PDP and his Candidacy.

Addressing the youths, the Village Head of Udung Otok in Ukukim group of villages, Chief Emmanuel Ukoh charged the youths of Ukukim Community to support and vote en masse for the PDP and Hon Oku Elias. He frowned very seriously at a certain subject of his whom he said was equally in the race, but admitted that now wasn't the time for Ukukim Chairmanship.

Also, holding the floor was the National President, Akpakip Ukukim Youth Council, Comrade Asukwo Abang. Whereas, he congratulated the chairman for honouring their invitation despite short notice, he nevertheless, promised that Ukukim Community shall give the PDP over 80% of her votes. He reaffirmed the determination of Akpakip Ukukim Youths to stand by the Edikor Chairmanship and thereafter, congratulated in advance our in-coming Executive Chairman in the person of Hon. Oku Elias.

In his response, Hon. Oku expressed his satisfaction with the youths of Ukukim for their firm believe in the PDP, Zoning, and in his person. He used the occasion to formally announced the PDP Ward tour scheduled to commenced from Thursday (23rd Nov.,) and declared that his administration has great plans for the people of Ukukim.
