Udung Uko PDP stakeholders adopt Gov. Udom Emmanuel for a 2nd term

Saturday 18th August, 2018 witnessed a political convocation as the people of Udung-Uko Local Government Area gathered in their numbers at the Local Government Council Hall, Eyofin, to chat the way forward as rewards the 2019 Gubernatorial Seat. The meeting which attracted the 'movers and shakers' of Udung-Uko Politics also greeted over 1000 APC defectors jointly led by a former Chairman of Council & the Vice President General of Oro Union, Hon. Dr. Asukwo Anwana and Hon. Victor Anwanakak, an APC Aspirant in the 2nd Dec., 2017 Local Government Polls.
Other APC chieftains who also made the list include the trio of Engr. Boyce Kininyi Edubio (absent with apology), Hon. John Obioesio and Mr. Effre, all of whom are foremost political heavyweights cum grassroots mobilizers.

The enlarge stakeholders meeting which was convened at the instance of the Executive Chairman & Leader of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the area, Hon. (Elder) Okon Esin Oku, had in attendance the Political Leader, former Chairman of Council & a Commissioner in the State Civil Service Commission, Chief Mrs. Kenim Onofiok; the immediate past Transition Chairman, Hon. Godwin Okponung; the State Officer of the Party, Hon. Okon Edet Umoh; a statesman, Sir Bernard Inwang and Mrs. Glory Effiong, to mention but a few.
Hon. Oku, who took time to extol the sterling qualities of our amiable Governor, His Excellency, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, also congratulated his dear boss for giving Udung-Uko a facelift through the remodeling of Udung-Uko Main Market (Urue Osung), the construction of a 9KM Eyotai--Edikor Roads with a spur at Ekim as well as the provision of other lives touching projects through FEYReP, the pet project of the wife of the Governor,  Her Excellency, Mrs. Martha Udom Emanuel.
The Udung-Uko Council boss however, concluded by declaring Governor Udom Emmanuel, as a brand that is worth reelection and added that doing so is in our best interest; the infrastructural and industrial renaissance of Akwa Ibom State.

On her part, Chief Mrs. Kenim Onofiok, reasoned that Eket Senatorial District personified in the person of Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, deserves a reelection considering the fact that his predecessor, Senator Godswill Akpabio and Arch. Obong Victor Attah, both of whom hails from Ikot Ekpene and Uyo Senatorial District respectively had earlier enjoyed the privilege of a reelection. She further opined that being "the goose that lays the golden egg" that Eket Senatorial District deserves to be fairly treated.

Similarly, Hon. Godwin Okponung, used the occasion to rain accolades on the person of our dear Governor for giving Udung-Uko People a road 22years after our creation as a Local Government. He induced wild jubilation from among the mammoth crowd when he gave the hint that the said road shall be due for commissioning by 23rd September, being the 31st anniversary of our State creation.
He further opined that in view of the unprecedented peace and the massive infrastructural/industrial renaissance now witnessed and enjoyed in the State, that our Governor rightly deserves a reelection.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Hon. Dr. Asukwo Anwana, likened his brief sojourn in APC to a "sabbatical leave" and maintained that he has returned better informed, equipped and energized to move the PDP forward. He used the occasion to call on the good people of Udung-Uko to maximize the two weeks extension given by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise to further boost our voting strength.

Other speakers drawn from across the Local Government include the Deputy Political Leader, Dr. Effiong Onuntuei; Chairman of the PDP Elders Forum, Engr. Asukwo Idung; SA to the Governor on Projects, Chief Wilson Onofiok;  Hon. Victor Anwanakak and the Special Adviser  on Women Development Affairs, Mrs. Grace Asukwo.

Highlights of the event was a motion moved in support of the Governor's reelection. It was duly moved and seconded by the oldest Legislator of the House of Assembly in the erstwhile Cross River State, Chief (Hon.) K. B. E. Abia and the former Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Effiong Okpo, while, the affirmation was perfected by the Chapter Chairman of the Party, Hon. Ita Eyo.

On the whole, the party faithfuls unanimously arose in solidarity to confirm their unflinching support for the Governor's reelection.
