HON. OKU DOLES OUT 1 MILLION NAIRA APPRECIATION FOR UDUNG-UKO YOUTHS

Drum support for Governor Udom Emmanuel’s 2nd term.

Udung-Uko Youth groups, a coalition of Youth Caucus, Youth Council, Christian Youths, Dakkada Ambassadors, Youth Stakeholders, Village Youth Leaders, Esu Nlap Oro and indeed, the peace and progress loving people of Udung-Uko Local Government Area, yesterday, 17th  November, 2018, converged at the Chapter Secretariat the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Eyotai. Gathered at the instance of the Executive Chairman & Leader of the party in the area, Hon. (Elder) Okon Esin Oku, the political convocation was the meeting point for the expression of gratitude and thankfulness to his people for the opportunity to serve as the Udung-Uko Council boss. Hon. Oku, who doled out a million naira in appreciation for the support and cooperation his administration enjoys from his people, further expressed satisfaction over the outcome of the just concluded voters’ registration exercise wherein Udung-Uko came far ahead of others.

Hon. Oku used the occasion to make public the fact that 97 person are currently in his administration’s payroll as well as his planned collaboration with the coalition of Udung-Uko Youth groups towards embarking on a vigorous, rugged, unit-by-unit and door-to-door mobilization/ sensitization of the electorates on the need to remain firm and steadfast with Mr. Udom Emmanuel and the PDP till 2023 and beyond.

Commenting, the Youth Caucus chairman and leader of the coalition, Comrade Paul Isangedighi, thanked the Council boss for his show of love and most specially for ensuring the restoration of electricity supply in Udung-Uko Local Government Area through the clearing of backlogs of arrears of Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED), bills which ran into thirty nine (N39,000,000.00) million naira, saying that the past 4 years of blackout had not been easy for residents of the area. He congratulated Hon. Oku for unveiling and commencing work on his administration’s capital project for 2018 fiscal year, being the design and construction of a 22 rooms office complex, political block (Phase II) which on completion will help improve the aesthetics of the Council Secretariat, while, also easing the challenge of office accommodation encountered by members of staff and the political class.
He recalled also how Hon. Oku earlier this year waded into the rift between Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission (AKISIEC) and her Ad Hoc staff in Udung-Uko, thus, ending the impasse after effecting the payment Ten thousand naira each (N10,000.00) to the 29 persons being part of those who were engaged by the Commission during the conduct of the 2nd December, 2017 Local Government Polls in the area. Of course, the intervention became imperative when the Commission for certain unthinkable reasons, surreptitiously replaced the names of the 29 affected persons in the payment voucher.

However, the epoch gathering was moderated by the Chapter Secretary of the party who double as the Special Adviser, Political & Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. John Inwang. Whereas eminent personalities who graced the event includes; the Dean, Udomtropism, and former Deputy Leader of Udung-Uko Legislative Council, Hon. Victor Anwankak, the Leader, Udung Uko Legislative Council, Hon. Duncan Oboho; SA Youth & Sports Development, Comrade Effiong Okpo; the Supervisor for Education, Hon. Victor Oboho; the Supervisor  for Health, Mr. Edet Abianwa; the Supervisor for works, Engr. Ben Edenseting; former Leader, Udung-Uko Legislative Council, Hon. Effiong Okpo, amongst numerous others.

Highlight of the event was the vote of confidence passed on the duo of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Oku, for his emancipatory and all inclusive approach to Governance as well as our amiable Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, for having the interest of Udung-Uko at heart and most particularly for mobilizing back to site, the construction giant, EVOMEC GLOBAL SERVICES LTD for the last lap of the ongoing construction of the 9KM Udung-Uko/Edikor Road with a spur to Ekim.  The motion was however, duly moved and seconded by Comrade Paul Isangedighi and Mr. Effiong Okpo, respectively.

To God be the Glory!
