The Senate has resolved to summon the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr
Geoffrey Onyeama and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation
(SGF), to appear before the Senate to explain irregularities in the
Ambassadorial List.
At the plenary on Wednesday, Senator Joshua Dariye moved that the
Minister of Foreign Affairs be summoned to explain the irregularities
surrounding the ambassadorial nominees list.
Senator Sunday Ogbuoji, also speaking noted that ambassadorial
nominees list had names of assistant directors on it while directors who
are qualified failed to make it.
Adding his voice, Senator Shehu Sani said that many states have
complained that they have no representative in the ministerial list.
While the Committee on Foreign Affairs are to look into all the
irregularities surrounding the ambassadorial nominees list and report
back in one week, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, concluded by
urging the Foreign Affairs Committee to address these issues surrounding
the list before the screening can commence.
The 47 ambassadorial nominees list of President Muhammadu Buhari, has
been criticised by many Nigerians over its lack of principle of federal
