Akwa Utd Seek to Extend Unbeaten Home Run

Akwa United FC will look to bounce back from their defeat to league leaders Plateau United last weekend when
they host relegation threatened Gombe United at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on
Sunday.

Coach Abdul Maikaba has tasked his boys to put their loss in Jos behind them and focus on getting the maximum three points against Gombe United.

Four of Akwa United's first team players; Alhassan Ibrahim, Ifeanyi Ifeanyi, Aremu Afeez and Vice Captain
Ariwachukwu Emmanuel who were recently invited to the camp of the national team will however be available for selection this weekend before the quartet head to the national camp.

When both teams met in the reverse
fixture earlier in the season, Akwa Utd forced their hosts to a goalless draw at the Gombe stadium.

Contrary to reports in a section of the media that some key players of the club have travelled for trials abroad, Coach Maikaba has a full strength team to choose from for the match as all the players except Moses Ebiye were
involved in this week's training.

Forward Ubong Friday will not be in action this weekend following his sending off in Jos on Matchday 28.

Players such as Hassan Babangida, Chigozie Chilekwu, Gabriel Okechukwu, Edem Akakatang amongst others
may be handed a place in the Match day squad for the clash against the northerners.

The Promise Keepers who are fourth on the log with 43 points from 27 matches could move up to third position if
they beat Gombe United at the Nest of Champions, a venue they are yet to lose a match this season.

The 2015 Federation Cup Champions will be motivated by the support of their ever vocal fans as they chase their 13th victory of the season.
