...University of Calabar Chapter of Good Omen Foundation set to commence duties

...Foundation admonished students to be academic conscious

It was a stimulating moment as the Conscious students of the prestigious University of Calabar yesterday gathered
at the Malabor Republic parliamentary hall to hurl their scholarly weight behind the Good Omen Project.

Declaring the event opened yesterday was the Director General of  GoodOmen2019 students wing - Comr.
Victor Asukwo who spoke extensively on the philosophy behind the Good Omen foundation.

The spirited comrade identified that the Good Omen Movement is aimed at
bringing back the renaissance of students friendly leadership to the present political space.

Comr. Asukwo stated that the time has come for the students to rise in one accord to support a just course that will give them an enabling environment to unleash their potentials.

Also speaking at the event was the Secretary General of the Good Omen Foundation-Mr. Asukwo Nseabasi i who
happened to be an alumni of the university who charged the students to develop passion for nation building to
guarantee a formidable future ahead.

The Director of Legal services of the foundation -Godwin Etta Esq. appreciated the students for their massive turnout and also stated that the students are the reasons for the day’s visit because without them it would be
impossible for a meeting of this nature to converge.

The astute legal practioner emphasized on the need to judge aspiring leaders from their track records.

"Barr. Omen Bassey has served in many leadership positions and uptil date he has never been found wanting in quality delivery and that's one of the reasons we
believe that he will be a political catalyst that will create a shift in our political space." He stated.

Mr. Michael Uyeh Akadakhaene who happens to be a one time President of National association of Urue- offong/oruko students, Uniuyo Chapter and also the Director of research and strategy, Good Omen Foundation stressed on the reason why the foundation seeks partnership with students.

He made known that the foundation believe so much in the students because
they remain the future of our nation.

He implored the students to come together and championed a course that
will lead to the glorious emancipation of their people and generation unborn.

In his presentation, the propelling force behind the GoodOmenProject , Barr. Omen Bassey explained that he has been in the forefront of getting the students
involved in the governance of the area.. The custodian of the Oro Think Tank secretariat whose passion for community service started from his days as School
Prefect in Ubodung Community Secondary Secondary School charged the students to be steadfast in servitude
as the rewards attached were inevitable.

He mentioned that the # GoodOmen is not about an individual but a platform for modelling leadership and representation, reawakening the consciousness for human capital development and furthering the love for service to fatherland.

The former Worldwide President of Urue-Offong/Oruko Students made known that being a State House Member would not change him from who the people has always known him to be.

He encouraged the Students to join the movement in reordering priorities to reflect the people first initiative of
the foundation while also putting their academics as priorities.

"We are here because we see what others have not seen in you, We are here because we want your future to be
protected that's why we want to partner with you to see that our people get what they deserve." he added.

Also in attendance was the number one citizen of the University of Calabar Students Community who gave a
message of Goodwill on behalf of the Student's Union.

He expressed joy over the visit and stressed on the need for the students to be carried along in the nation's decision
making process.

Highpoint of the event was a speech by Comrade Samuel Duncan , a former President of Akpakip Oro Student's
Union- UCC chapter who described his visit as an homecoming and encouraged his alma mater to be academic conscious even while participating in students
politicking.

In their responses, members of the University of Calabar students community expressed excitement over the aspiration of Barr. Omen Bassey who according to them is the best material for the Urue-Offong/Oruko State Constituency job.

They thanked God for bringing Omen
Bassey whom they know has the capacity to deliver, the courage to speak for the people and the love to touch the lives of his people.

In their opinion, Barr. Omen Bassey
is used to touching people's lives thus, Urue-Offong/ Oruko is lucky to have a goodhearted man who has gained the courage to aspire in order to raise the stakes of democracy dividends delivery.

The GoodOmen Foundation, University of Calabar Chapter was duly inaugurated by the foundation’s legal services director and were set for commencement of
duties.

The session ended with assurances from the students community to champion a vanguard of foot soldiers and enlist the support of people across their respective villages while the immediate past Eti-Oro of University of Uyo- Comrade Uloh Williamz gave a vote of thanks on behalf
of the foundation.
