IKONO PROGRESSIVE ALLIANCE (IPA) RE- LG ELECTIONS, IKONO STONES EPHRAIM INYANG WITH ROTTEN EGGS

We are indeed shocked to wake up to the irritating, nauseating and untrue story on the social media and in newspapers with the headline "LG ELECTION: IKONO STONES EPHRAIM INYANG WITH ROTTEN EGG".

The above story is written by one Uduakabasi IKPATT, published by Global Concord, and Global Post newspapers,
and widely circulated online.

While it would be easier to ignore the above writer given his antecedents as an editor in the notorious Global Concord Newspaper, we are mindful to put the innocent public on notice as follows:

1. That the above story is malicious, false and intended to cause political mischief. At no point in time, was the Commissioner for Works, Akparawa Ephraim Inyangeyen stoned with anything at all in Ikono LGA, to talk less of being stoned with rotten eggs. The misleading headline has little or no bearing with the content of his cut and
join story.

2. Akparawa Ephraim Inyangeyen has never and will never dabble into Ikono politics.Ikpatt in his vitriolic write up accuses the Commissioner For Works, Mr Ephraim Inyang of trying "to thwart the long lasting peace in the area by imposing an unpopular aspirant on the people noting that if such anomaly is permitted, the party will rest in peace in the Cradle of Ikono nation". He further claims that the chairmanship seat has "been zoned to Ediene Ward.

3".This is preposterous and laughable. The entire narrative is a joke and should be completely discarded. First, the Hon Commissioner has not directly or indirectly been involved in Ikono politics to the extent of imposing any candidate.
Secondly, there is no such ward as Ediene Ward.

4. This entire story by Uduak Ikpatt is a work of fiction and lacks any iota of truth in it. It is unfortunate that a
man masquerading as a journalist will condescend so low to churn out lies.

5. Ikono LGA is clearly divided into Ikono middle, Ikono South and Ediene Itak. Power has always rotated among these zones. For the records, Dr Clement Bassey (Ikono South) was Chairman of Ikono LGA from 1999 to 2002. Hon Aloysius Etok (Ediene Ittak) was in the
House of Assembly. During the same dispensation, Sir Sunday Udo Akpan (Ikono Middle) was appointed the
Commissioner for Finance.

In 2003, the trend continued. Dr Clement Bassey (Ikono South) represented Ikono State Constituency in
the House of Assembly, while Engr Edet Umotong (Ediene Ittak) was council chairman. Dr Clement Bassey was re-elected to the House of Assembly in 2007. Hon David Udo (Ikono Middle) was the council chairman from 2008 to 2011. The trend goes on to this day. Ikono has an established zoning structure and the so called Ediene Ward 3 does not exist.

6. It is clear that Ikpatt is sponsored and he is poorly executing a hatchet job, but we however frown at the fact that he should deem the hard earned reputation of the Hon Commissioner, Ephraim Inyangeyen for his inglorious and naked dance.

7. We challenge Mr Uduakabasi Ikpatt to provide any shred of evidence to prove all the satanic accusations he has heaped on Mr Inyangeyen and urge him to
immediately retract that story and tender an unreserved apology to the Hon Commissioner and all the persons he
has mentioned in his libelous news story.

8. We continue to appeal to all good people of Ikono LGA to ignore and resist political miscreants whose only stock
in trade is to contrive and spread mischief, especially during this political season.

Signed:
Comrade Wilson Ekott
National Chairman
Chief Dennis Akpan
