2019 DESPARATION: REASONS A’IBOM GOVT SHUNNED AKISAN

More reasons have emerged on the decision of the Akwa Ibom State Government to withdraw from all activities of the Akwa Ibom State Association of Nigeria, AKISAN, USA.
According to our findings, the leadership of the socio-political organization had liaised with the NDDC Managing Director Mr Nsima Ekere to politicize the event.

According to reports gathered, the state delegation to the convention were ‘ambushed’ with an obnoxious demand for a registration fee of $120.

It was also noticed that the souvenir programme of the event was a complete breach of state protocol, as there was no official portrait of the Governor in the programme.

The organisers also failed to include a role for the Akwa Ibom Governor in the programme, but surreptitiously made Mr Ekere to be the chairman of the event with No defined role for the Governor.
There entire programme was clearly skewed to the dictate of Mr Nsima Ekere, an honoree who allegedly sponsored over 200 Akwa Ibom APC members to attend the convention, while the members of the state government’s delegation were being asked to pay $120(N46,200) to get each programme.

It was also discovered that the President of AKISAN showed an obvious disrespect to the government and people of Akwa Ibom State and was also economical with the details of the events which was reportedly hidden from the government.
A cursory look at the programme, showed that the Governor of Georgia Mr Nathan Deal welcomed Governor Emmanuel, and commended his effort in the economic, educational, cultural scientific and social progress of the Akwa Ibom State.

On the contrary, the president of AKISAN didn't have a line in his speech making reference to the Government of the people of Akwa Ibom state.

Slighted by this, the Akwa Ibom State Government announced its withdrawal from all activities organized by Akwa Ibom State Association of Nigeria, AKISAN in United States of America till further notice.

Subsequently, the state government delegation to the 2017 AKISAN convention in Atlanta Georgia, USA, has boycotted the convention.

The 2017 AKISAN convention is the first where the leadership will align with the opposition to ridicule the state government at the expense of the interest of the people.
