LOVE THAT CHASTISES part 1

This lesson is geared towards understanding the deep love of God against the background of chastisement, reprove and correction. In dealing with this topic, we will be looking at three major dimensions of believer's 'walk', believer's 'war' and the key to winning the war.

The pertinent question is, why does God chastise His children? In order to gain a full understanding of this question, it is necessary to look into the three major areas mentioned above.

At the background of these lies the pivot...LOVE. Most of us have heard of the term 'tough love'. The deep and unfathomable love of God will not, and cannot allow His children to go astray without His interjection.

Joh10:27-28. Often times, this is accomplished through the guidance of the Holy Spirit and when necessary, through punitive measures.

Quite simply, one can summarise the underlying factor behind His entire motive as love. '

My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of Him: For whom the Lord loveth, He chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom He receiveth.

If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?' Heb12:5-7. Let us begin by considering the believer's walk in this lesson.

Bear in mind that this is of relevance and indeed a major underlying factor of reprove.

To walk implies walking in the spirit and being filled with the spirit of God.

Walking in the spirit means you allow God to control your life and you allow the word of God to dwell richly in you.

You imbibe a holy character, you allow your life to gather fruits of righteousness by exhibiting the fruits of the spirit.

Brokenness, giving of yourself for others and empathy also takes root in your heart. These effectively becomes the antidote to chastisement from God and ultimately negates the need to constantly engage in the believer's war.

In the next lesson, we will look into more details on walking in the spirit. May I ask you to please pray that children of God will allow God to control their lives.

Pray that they will understand that the old man was crucified with Christ as such, make the choice to walk in the spirit.

'THIS I SAY THEN, WALK IN THE SPIRIT AND YE SHALL NOT FULFIL THE LUST OF THE FLESH' Gal5:16.

God bless you all.
