LOVE THAT CHASTISES part 2
As we explore further the believer's walk. As mentioned in part 1, the entire basis of God's chastisement is based on nothing but Love.
In order to gain full understanding of this, we identified three areas, namely the believer's 'walk', believer's 'war' and key to 'winning' the war.
We will expatiate more on the believer's walk again today. The believer's walk with God is very important and is a major determinant factor behind God's chastisement.
Indeed, God is very particular about the believer's walk in Christ. '...Walk not as other Gentiles walk in the vanity of their mind, Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart.
Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness' Eph4:17-19. God desires that His children should walk in righteousness.
When children of God embark upon missions of disobedience and stray away from His will, He will impose punitive measures to get them back in line.
All through the bible, we see how God consistently stretches forth His hands of mercy to receive back His children that have strayed away and repented through punitive means.
A good point of reference to study is the book of Judges. 'And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the Lord...And the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel, and He sold them into the hands of the Philistines...And the children of Israel cried unto the Lord...And they put away the strange gods from among them and served the Lord: and His soul was grieved for the misery of Israel' Jud10:7,10,15. Note how God was grieved to see His children endure misery! Nevertheless, He is a just and a faithful God.
He will never compromise His standards for any one. His ways are pure and His justice is perfect.
He would therefore rather chastise His children, albeit enduring certain miseries rather than have any perish.
What a good God we serve! Understand that as a child of God, when you stray away from God's will, He may impose punitive measures in order to draw you back to Him. He does not desire that any should perish. 2Pet3:9.
May I ask you to please pray that children of God will not embark upon journeys of disobedience. Pray that they will constantly walk in the spirit.
'THAT YE PUT OFF CONCERNING THE FORMER CONVERSATION THE OLD MAN, WHICH IS CORRUPT ACCORDING TO THE DECEITFUL LUSTS; AND BE RENEWED IN THE SPIRIT OF YOUR MIND' Eph4:22-23.
God bless you all.
