Journalist Shot inside Church

A journalist, Edifon Solomon is responding to treatment at a private hospital having sustained injuries from a gunshot inside a church yesterday evening in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State Capital.

Solomon is the Media Aide to Special Adviser to the Governor on Political and Legislative Affairs and Water Resources, Barr. Ekong Sampson.
The incident occurred at Christ Apostolic Church, off Ikot Ekpene Road, where Solomon, who is of the State Information Chapel of the NUJ, and his family went for evening service.

In a telephone interview, his wife, said while the service was going on, a gunshot fired inside the church, went to the direction of her husband and hit him.

She said the incident resulted in the worshippers running helter skelter, with the victim rushed to the hospital.

Akwa Ibom State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Odiko MacDon said investigation into the matter has begun.
