THE PROBLEM IS LEADERSHIP - 2

By Ita Awak

I went to bed last night oppressed and disillusioned by thoughts of the toxic corruption and systemic decay that is currently threatening to
dismember our potentially great country along narrow ethnic lines.

I wouldn't know whatever mental transmutation chanced in my dream state; but I woke up this rainy Sunday morning with thoughts of Nwalimu Kambarage Nyerere of Tanzania flooding my consciousness.

The more I thought of this saintly and deeply patriotic African leader, the more I persuaded myself that if a few men and women of his sterling
character were those who took over the reins of political power and leadership from the British colonialists at our independence on first October, 1960, our collective resources would have been more prudently managed, our diverse ethnicities would have been more creatively blended to make us more cohesive and united and stronger; and Nigeria would have been far greater than it is today.

MY FELLOW COMPATRIOTS, IS IT TOO LATE TO FIND LEADERS ACROSS THE GEOPOLITICAL ZONES
AT THE NATIONAL LEVEL WHO WILL REDEDICATE  THEMSELVES TO ACTIONING THE PHILOSOPHY OF
"NIGERIA FIRST?"
