AKWA IBOM GOVT DECLARES SEPT 1 STATE FASTING

Akwa Ibom State Governor Mr Udom Emmanuel has declared Friday, 1st September as general prayer and fasting day in the state.

The governor made the declaration in a press statement which reads:
"Akwa Ibom State will be thirty years old on September 23, 2017. As part of activities to mark its 30th anniversary of creation, His Excellency the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, ably led by God has declared a one-day state fast on Friday September 1, 2017.

The statement further states "the fasting is to afford all Akwa Ibom people the opportunity to seek the face of God and open doors for more of God’s blessing upon our state at 30.

"With the theme, 'Shine for thy light is come... (Isa 60:1), this year's anniversary is epochal, considering that thirty years is a very significant time in God’s scheme of things.

The heaven was opened for Jesus at the age of 30 during his baptism and there he also received a Divine endowment from the Father. It was at the age of 30 that the Heaven was opened to Ezekiel; the Hand of the Lord came upon him and he was empowered to see great visions for the house of Israel. It was at the age of 30 that David became the King of Israel and he led Israel for 40 glorious years.

It was at the age of 30 that Joseph was made a Prime Minister in Egypt, a position he used to save the lives of his people from the great famines.

"As a people of a great state named after God, Akwa Ibomites are hereby called upon to fast and pray on that day beginning from 6am. The fast will be rounded off at the Government House Banquet Hall grounds from 4pm", the statement concludes.

The statement signed by Mr. Charles Udoh, Hon. Commissioner for Information and Strategy, invites everyone to the ceremonies
